The origins of the Vacheron Constantin Overseas harks back to the 1970s where to celebrate the companies 222^nd anniversary they launched their own sports model to compete against the likes of the Royal Oak and the Nautilus. The ref.222 was born and was a radical change of pace compared to Vacheron’s other timepieces. With a thin barrel-shaped case, notched round bezel and Maltese cross inlaid on the case at 5 o’clock it also featured an integral bracelet and was water resistant up to 120m. In 1996 Vacheron launched the Overseas collection, inspired by the 222 of the 70s and came with the tonneau-shaped case with a fluted bezel reminiscent of the Maltese cross. It also had crown guards and an integrated bracelet with geometric links. In 1999 a chronograph version was made for the first time in the collection and it also featured a grand date aperture.

This particular iteration of the Overseas is a 2nd generation model, reference 47450/B01A-9226 and comes set in a 42mm stainless steel case fitted with a fixed Maltese cross bezel with 8 notches (3rd generation models have 6 notches). The Silver dial features a guilloche finish with  displays a day/night indicator, second timezone, date feature and retrograde power reserve indicator. The dial is protected by a flat sapphire crystal glass and fitted with a screwdown crown which allows for a water resistance of 15atm (150m/490ft). The watch is powered by the automatic Vacheron calibre 1222 in-house movement, which is protected by a closed caseback. Lastly, this Overseas is fitted with an integrated stainless steel link bracelet with dual folding Maltese cross clasp.

Originally purchased in November 2014 and in fine condition due to minor marks to the bezel, this Overseas comes supplied with its original inner and outer boxes (inner box showing wear), swing tag, polishing cloth, VC service documentation (July 2021), original purchase receipts and USB (instructions/warranty information).
