Panerai Radiomir Watches
Panerai Radiomir are every inch exquisite timepieces. They were originally crafted for the Italian Navy and are one of the most wanted vintage rarities today. The history of Panerai stems back to 1860 and its involvement with the Italian Navy which launched Panerai into dizzy heights. Panerai produced depth gauges and compasses, amongst many other nautical mechanical instruments.
In 1936, the brand was approached and asked to craft a professional diver’s watch for the Marines. The requirements for the watch were extreme, and above all else, it needed to be waterproof and very easy to read in all conditions. Panerai asked Rolex to help, as the Rolex brand was renowned for its expertise in water-resistant watches. In collaboration with Rolex, the Panerai Radiomir was created. It was a waterproof timepiece with a diameter of 47-millimetres which in the 1930s was thought to be of immense proportions. A patented phosphor that was based on radium was used in the making of the Radiomir dial to ensure that the dial could easily be seen in all environments.
Panerai watches are made for those with a passion for nautical adventures. The timepieces are a stylish and elegant blend of Swiss technology combined with stunning Italian good looks.
