The Panerai Luminor is one of the most recognisable designs in modern watchmaking, defined by its bold cushion-shaped case, clean dial layout, and distinctive crown-protecting bridge with locking lever. Originally created for professional and military use, Panerai watches were not made widely available to the public until the 1990s, when the brand’s unmistakable design quickly gained a loyal following among collectors and enthusiasts. With its strong case profile, high legibility, and purposeful construction, the Luminor Marina remains one of the maison’s most iconic models.

This Panerai Luminor Marina Automatic, reference OP6553, is presented in a 44mm stainless steel case with the signature Panerai crown guard, giving the watch its unmistakable wrist presence. The black dial features luminous Arabic numerals and hour markers, a date aperture at 3 o’clock, and a small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock, creating the balanced and highly legible display for which the Luminor Marina is known. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal with date magnifier, while the screw-down caseback and crown-protecting bridge help ensure water resistance to 300m / 1000ft.

Powering the watch is the Panerai OP III automatic calibre, a COSC-certified movement based on the robust ETA 7750 architecture. It offers reliable automatic winding, small seconds, date functionality, and an approximate 42-hour power reserve, making it a strong and practical everyday Panerai with classic early-2000s character.

Originally purchased in January 2004, this watch is presented in fine condition, showing minor marks to the case consistent with age and careful wear. It is supplied with its original inner and outer boxes, screwdriver, spare brown leather strap, instructional booklet, movement certification, and original guarantee card.
