The now infamous El Primero was launched in 1969 and its name ‘the first’, was a big statement within the watch industry as both automatic and chronograph watches both existed, just never together before then. Zenith’s choice of name, El Primero, drove the point home. But the moniker was suitable given its pioneering approach. It allowed the balance to oscillate at 36,000 beats per hour, a rate which in turn allowed the measurement of elapsed time to a then unheard of 1/10th of a second with central rotor, column wheel and the other now standard elements of an automatic movement having undergone a remarkable feat of miniaturization. It was such a leap that this is the very movement is what could be found powering Rolex’s legendary Daytona (ref. 16520) for the next 12 years.

Over 50 years After the launch of the seminal El Primero calibre, the Chronomaster Original marks the latest generation of the iconic chronograph, faithful to the A386 in style and substance. This iteration, reference 03.3200.3600/69.C902 comes set in a polished stainless steel 38mm case with satin finish shoulders. The silver dial features the classic El Primero tri-colour sub dials as well as the striking red chronograph seconds hand and date aperture between 4/5 o'clock. The watch is powered by the automatic El Primero Calibre 3600 chronograph movement which is capable of timing down to 1/10th of a second and boasts a 60 hour power reserve. The watch is completed with a blue Nubuck leather strap and butterfly deployment clasp.  

Originally purchased in October 2022 and in unworn condition, supplied as a full and completed set, with its original inner & outer boxes, instruction booklet, warranty card holder and international warranty card. This Zenith benefits from coverage of its manufacturer warrant until October 2024, however this is extendable with Zenith registration.
